LEON CITY TOUR & SURROUNDINGS

León, located about 90 km. It was the principal city of political, cultural, religious and military in Nicaragua. We can see the spaniards influence of colonial heritage in its streets, monuments and buildings. The cathedral is the most impressive colonial monument in all central america because its big construction, altars, arches and all the statues collection of the 1700 centuary.

Visit the wonderful and beautiful Cathedral and hte centra plaza. From here we leave to visit Ruben Dario House who is the biggest and famous poet and the acknowledged prince of Castilian poetry. After we visit the Museum of Legends is located in the Garrison Veinte Uno, formerly used by the Somoza National Guards and continuing your trip you will visit La merced and La recoleccion churches and the famous revolutional painted walls.

Leon viejo

Visit of leon old city, founded in 1524 by the spaniards. Nowadays it is recognized by UNESCO as a  humanity heritage. In this place, you wil see the original construction of the spaniards, the plan and construct colonial towns. Also in this place it was found the body of the conquistor Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba who was decapitated in the main palza of leon viejo (old leon) and his body was lost for centuaries.

San Jacinto Boiler

It is near by Telica volcano, located about 30 kilometers from Leon. We meet the funnel of San Jacinto and spring water heated by volcano activity. The water boils and mixes the pure earth creating the mud in a permanent state of bubbling and being tossed into the air. And also we are going to see steamy gas emissions.

Cerro Negro Volcano Trail

Early in the mornig we leave in a comfortable double-cabin, fwd vehicle. Getting over trhe from the bottom we start to climb to top peak. we view the black lava fields and, later, are awed by Nature's paintings in yellow, red, green, black, and every color in between. In all of this is cause by the constant sulfuric gases escape. Also from that look out we see Asososca lagoon. In this volcano it can be practice the sand board sport.
